MBLA Annual Meeting and Call To Leadership – April 18, 2017

It is that time of year again!  The term of the MBLA Officers and Directors expires in April of each year at the Annual Meeting.  The MBLA is now accepting applications for Officer, Director and Board Committee leadership positions for the 2017-2018 administrative year.

Our 2017 Annual Meeting, at which Officers and Directors will be elected, will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at the Boston Bar Association, 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02108 at 6:00 p.m. RSVP here to attend. Appointed positions will be filled prior to the May Board of Directors meeting.
The 2017-2018 MBLA Elections Information Packet outlines all available elected and appointed positions.

Prospective candidates should submit application materials via email to President-Elect Courtney B. Scrubbs at presidentelect@massblacklawyers.orgwith a copy to president@massblacklawyers.organd include all required materials as outlined in the 2017-2018 MBLA Elections Information Packet. Application materials for elected positions must be submitted by Friday, April 7, at noon EST. For appointed positions, the submission deadline is Friday, April 21, at noon EST.
Certified candidates for elected positions should be prepared to:

  • address the membership in person at the Annual Meeting;
  • attend a Board retreat on Saturday, April 29 (alternatively, Sunday, April 30); and
  • attend a monthly Board meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., beginning on May 10 at the Boston Bar Association.
NOTE: Individuals submitting applications, whether for elected or appointed positions, and all voting members must be dues paying members for the 2017-2018 administrative year.  Membership for the current program year expires on March 31.  Law student and honorary members may neither apply for elected positions nor vote, but are encouraged to apply for appointed positions.
