D’Andre Fernandez is an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General in the Public Protection and Advocacy Bureau in the Civil Rights Division. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office. Mr. Fernandez was a staff attorney at the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association, supervising Pro Se Litigant Clinics and representing individuals in divorce, guardianship, child support, alimony, custody, parenting time and equity matters. Prior to that, Mr. Fernandez was a staff attorney in the Public Defender Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Service in Norfolk County, where he represented indigent clients in all aspects of criminal cases including arraignments, dispositions, trials, probation surrender hearings and Section 35 commitment proceedings. Mr. Fernandez has served as the youngest Worshipful Master in the history of Mt. Zion Lodge, 15 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, Jurisdiction of Massachusetts. Prince Hall Masonry is a fraternal organization and the oldest African American organization in the Country. A Boston native and resident, Mr. Fernandez is a graduate of Boston College Law School (2010) and Howard University (2006, magna cum laude). During his time at Boston College Law School, Mr. Fernandez petitioned to change the by-laws of the BLSA chapter there, creating the Vice-President External position and was the author of a brief argued in the MA Appeals Court. Mr. Fernandez served on the MBLA’s Programs & Professional Development Committee for the past two years.
