DOUGLAS MARTIN, Esq.
Biography

DOUGLAS MARTIN is the Principal of the Law Office of Douglas Martin where he practices
business, civil, criminal matters, commercial litigation, and probate and family law.
Attorney Martin received his Bachelor’s degree in 1993 in political science from
The University’s of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, where he served as a political commentator for the university
newspaper, The Leader.  Following graduation, he was hired as an instructor and later appointed
co-Director by Marquette University in the Criminology and Law Studies Department.

He departed teaching to work on the Governor of Wisconsin’s Central City Initiative Program as a
counselor and motivational speaker for one year. In 1995, he joined the United States Attorney’s
Office in Milwaukee , Wisconsin as the Coordinator for the Victim Witness Law Enforcement
Program, a position he held for four years.  He was responsible for coordinating and developing
various programs in federal drug cases, as well as conducting statistical research and compiling
information for his office and federal agents (FBI, ATF and DEA). During this tenure in the
U.S. Attorney’s office, he received letters of commendations from former President Bill Clinton
and Attorney General Janet Reno in recognition of his work.

In 2002, he received his law degree from the Massachusetts School of Law, where he was
elected President of the Black Law Students Association. Upon graduation, he clerked for
Attorney Gordon E. Feener on federal cases during the summer of 2002, and from 2003 until
2006, served first as a judicial intern, special Deputy Assistant, and later law clerk for The
Honorable Frederick L. Brown of the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

In 2006, Attorney Martin left the Appeals Court to become an Assistant District Attorney in the
Middlesex District Attorney’s Office in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he represented the
Commonwealth in Criminal District Court and Juvenile cases, managing a large caseload and
specializing in discovery production, pre-trial conferences, pleas and trial preparation for bench
and jury trials.  He joined McKenzie and Associates on October 1, 2007.

Attorney Martin has been a Board member of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association
since 2006.  He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and an At-Large
Director for its Young Lawyers Division.  Appointed to the Internal Diversity Committee by
Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone in 2006, since his departure he continues to serve as an
External Diversity Committee member.
